Product Specifications-Personal Monuments™
Each monument is manufactured of reinforced concrete (GFRC) to ensure a lasting memorial for future generations. Visit the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) website at www.PCI.org to learn more about this construction-grade material. The monuments are hollow and open at the bottom, and have a special fixture manufactured into each unit (for attachment with a 1/2" nut to the concrete vault lids). An anti-theft metal eyelet manufactured into and under each model makes it simple to lock on a chain and cast it into a concrete-filled hole for extra security, but only if desired.
Every monument features a recess that accepts a 7 1/2" (W) x 5" (H) bronze or granite plaque (for up to 43 chracters of text on each line, companion names and scrolls, or verse) which can mounted using normal hardware when needed for installation.
Product Specifications-Cremains Vaults
Each water-resistant concrete vault is 1,872 cubic inches and constructed of a Type 2 cement to meet the 5000psi demands of most cemeteries. Interior dimensions are 12" (W) x 12" (L) x 15" (H). Outer dimensions are 16" (W) x 16" (L) x 17" (H). Click here or on the image at right to view the vault schematic.
The concrete lid is designed to sit two inches below the lip of the vault inside its interior. The special fixture manufactured underneath each monument allows a 1/2" rod to be threaded through a hole in the lid of the vault into the monument so they come together as a single piece when tightened with a nut and washer.
A bead of waterproof adhesive where the vault lid meets the vault itself will offer a secure seal, but one that your staff can break with a prybar to gain access to it again in the future (more design-installation tips are attached).
How Durable Are The Monuments Over Time?
Our monuments are so similar to natural rock that you can expect them to wear in the same way. In fact, over time they'll appear even more natural from the effects of the elements (i.e., sun, rain, snow). You should be comforted to know our monuments are made to last outdoors in your cremation garden or nature trail for generations to come without any special maintenance or care.
In fact, a national expert in the restoration of monuments made from marble, granite and other traditional materials (with projects ranging from Arlington National Cemetery to the Titanic artifacts) has estimated reinforced concrete monuments such as ours will last 100-150 years before requiring any restoration work (the same amount of time that applies even to material such as marble and granite).
What Custom Color Choices Are Available?
Each monument will be hand-colored in variations of your choice of sandstone, light granite or gray-brown (especially popular in Midwest and East Coast regions of the United States) by our professional team of artisans using an acid-stain process similar to what is used in the construction and concrete finishing industries.
Customers will be asked to instruct us how they want their order acid-stained (i.e., entire order in variations of one color, half of order in sandstone and half in gray-brown, etc.) by making notes on our estimate or sending instructions separately. Color samples can be seen at right.
What's The Turnaround Time For An Order?
Upon learning the size of an order, we can better estimate turnaround time for production of the monuments and vaults, custom coloring and shipping. Many times we can manufacture and ship small orders within 2-3 weeks.
Our goal is to meet your construction project deadlines as best as possible while taking into consideration the demands of our pool/spa, landscaping and general construction customers for similar products sold in our Water Features and Boulders division.
How Are The Monuments Shipped (And Unpacked)?
Depending on the size of an order, our monuments and vaults are shipped via Fedex Ground, on pallets with a common carrier, or a combination of both ways. The monuments are normally packaged in 350-lb. test, double-walled corrugated boxes using an industrial foam-in-place system to protect them during shipping.
Our larger "Estate Size" Monuments are all shipped via a common carrier on pallets. If your cemetery does not have a forklift to unload any palletized order once it arrives, whether it's our "CG Series" or "Estate Size" monuments, the trucking firm will charge an additional fee for providing delivery on a truck with a liftgate.
It is your responsibility to check for damage before signing for or accepting your monuments in the unlikely event something happened to it during shipping. The "foam" can be removed by breaking or carefully cutting it away from the monument and disposing it. Touch-up color will accompany your order to use should any scratches occur during unpacking or installing your monuments.
Can We Order A Sample Monument And Vault?
Yes, you can at our normal wholesale price. Should you decide later to place an order for 12 or more "CG Series" monuments, we will give you a credit for the cost of the first sample monument and vault ordered (not including shipping).
Is There A Manufacturer's Product Guarantee?
We offer a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee for the lifetime of our monuments if our craftsmanship is found to be defective in any way (with the exception of naturally-occurring adjustments in color). Customers with a valid defective craftsmanship claim will receive an immediate replacement with an identical product once the monument is returned.
Do The Monument Prices Include A Bronze Plaque?
Neither our "CG Series" or "Estate Size" monument prices include a bronze plaque. Many cemeteries have a relationship with their own supplier from whom to order a bronze or granite plaque--plaques must be 7 1/2" (W) x 5" (H) to fit the monuments' pre-manufactured recess, however we can quote our own plaque pricing upon request.
At the sized lettering that still allows the bronze foundry to offer a quality casting, each 7 1/2" (W) x 5" (H) bronze plaque will typically accept a maximum number of 43 characters per line (each letter, number, space and punctuation is a character that should be counted in this per-line total). As you likely know, the more characters your customer wants included on each line, the more the individual characters must be reduced in size for the final layout.
Although six lines are available, it's not necessary for your customer to use all lines if they prefer to have less text appear on the plaque.
How Can We Prevent Theft Of The Monuments?
Although not seen as a necessity by most, if you are concerned about theft of your monuments, purchase an inexpensive key or combination lock and three-foot-long chain from a local hardware or home improvement store. Lock one end of the chain onto the heavy metal eyelet manufactured underneath each monument and then dig a hole next to the concrete urn vault, fill it with quick-drying cement, and push as much of the chain into the cement where it can dry and serve as an extra anchor.
How Are Payments Handled?
For orders over 15 monuments we require a deposit of 50% of the order prior to production with the balance due upon completion of the order. We can establish Net 30-day terms with a credit application for orders under 15 monuments. We welcome company checks, credit cards, wire transfers and money orders.
Sales Support (Graphics And Publicity)
Please let us know how we can assist your pre-need and at-need sales efforts with graphics support (i.e., custom product sheets, sales reference sheets, etc.) as well as help with publicity such as a "localized" news release with quotes from a spokesman at your company and photo(s) which-after you approve the final draft-we can help in distributing to the appropriate editor at your area newspaper(s) prior to the grand opening of your new or expanded cremation garden or nature trail project.
